The Chestnut Hills Summer Camps provide campers with a fun, family atmosphere where they ride and work with sweet and gentle horses. Dates vary each summer - a schedule will be available in late May.
Our camp days begin with horsemanship lessons and general barn care. We learn how to muck stalls, feed the horses, and groom the horses. Next campers learn the basics of riding and may learn to perform drill team set to music, and hunt team routines. Riders are grouped by ability. No previous riding experience is necessary.
After riding, campers learn how to take care of the horse, with demonstrations in hoof and health care by a vet or farrier, as well as how to bathe and clip. We take a break for lunch and then our activities continue with lunge line lessons and more! This is a camp favorite! Camp days end with crafts and games. The campers will receive a surprise horse “tool” every day to decorate, use, and keep.
Friday concludes with a camp show for family and friends to watch.
Participants will need the following:
Riding boots or shoes with a heel & long pants
Shorts and tennis shoes for after riding
Lunch each day
Helmet (we have approved helmets available as needed)
