Chestnut Hill Equestrian Center and riding school was established in 1988. We are proud to offer a large program with excellent instructors and high quality, well-schooled horses. We are dedicated to safety, personal attention and quality instruction. We have a large hunter/jumper lesson program, and we also offer western, bareback, and horsemanship.
What we hope our lessons can offer you is a FUN recreation, that teaches you the skill of riding, and mostly, great life lessons such as confidence in yourself, compassion, patience, and goal-oriented solutions. For young people, being involved in riding horses is unlike any other activity or sport.
Our Lesson horses are of high quality, most of them being retired show horses. Many of them are available to go to local shows with students in the lesson program, and a few are available for half-lease. We have everything from ponies to warmbloods, so riders of all ages, sizes and skill levels can be accommodated.
Our Beginner Lessons teach students to handle, groom, and tack up the horse, as well as basic riding skills. Safety is a priority, so class sizes are kept small (2-4 students). The lessons are one hour. Students will focus on basic position, steering, and control at the walk and trot. Private lessons are also available and are 45 minutes in length.
Our Leadline and Junior Leadline Lessons are for students age 5 and under who need one on one attention in a shorter lesson format designed for younger attention spans. Lessons are 20-40 minutes, tailored to each child, and priced accordingly.
Our Advanced Beginner Lessons allow students who have mastered the basics of grooming and tacking up to have a little more time in the arena. Students arrive a little before their lesson time and prepare their horses, and spend the whole hour in the saddle, refining their skills and adding cantering and small jumps to their skills as they are ready. Class sizes remain small (2-5 students). Private lessons are also available and are 45 minutes in length.
Our Intermediate and Advanced Lessons allow students to continue to build their skills and set more specific goals to advance their riding. Group lessons are still one hour in length, and private lessons are 45 minutes.
Training packages are available for lesson students who wish to take three or more lessons per week.
